Sundays In Bed With: Ronin Black from the Mastered series by Lorelei James

a sundays in bed with

The original meme from Midnight Book Girl asks what book has been in your bed this morning?  But, what I want to know is…”What book boyfriend is in your bed this morning?”

This Sunday I’m in bed with Ronin Black. It isn’t my first time in bed with this incredibly sexy man. Nope…it’s my third, and each time is even better than before. Schooled is a continuation of the Mastered series by Lorelei James. You can read my review of the 1st book Bound here. Ronin is a master in the art of Shibari/Kinbaku  which is a Japanese artistic form of rope bondage, and yes it’s highly sexual too. He’s got a body to die for, and even tho he’s normally a pretty stoic guy, he’s got a passionate, romantic side that makes me all hot and bothered  in the way the best book boyfriends do ;)

If you haven’t read the books in this series I have one thing to say…get on it NOW! It’s a really unique story  with fantastic characters, writing, and all the feels you could possibly want. Schooled releases on December 2nd.

best of 2014

Boy oh boy do we FLOVE our book boyfriends here on Bookish Temptations. They come in all ages, walks of life, careers, looks, lifestyle…you name it…we love ‘em. Here’s our favorites of 2014…

Gel~

Isn’t this one of the most important character in a book. May it be Romance, Erotic, Suspense, Thriller… There is always that one guy in a book that we always look forward to know. ;)

Who made my Best Book Boyfriends this year… Hmmm… Let’s see.

1. Mackenna Jones from RIPPED by Katy evans
2. Greyson King from ROGUE by Katy Evans
3. Q from Monsters in the Dark Series by Pepper Winters
4. M from The One Night Trilogy by Jodi Ellen Malpas
5. Hayden Stryker in The Clipped Wings Series by Helena Hunting
6. Beckett Taylor from The Poughkeepsie Brotherhood by Debra Anastasia
7. Alex Avery from the After Dark Series by Kahlen Aymes
8. Gideon Cross from Crossfire Series by Sylvia Day
9. Naz from Monster In His Eyes by J. M. Darhower
10. Cade from No Weddings Series by Kat Bastion and Stone Bastion

Katiebird’s Favorite Book Boyfriends and One Husband:

1. Matthew de Clairmont from The Book of Life (All Soul’s Trilogy) by Deborah Harkness
-
“But you don’t need words to tell me how you feel,” Matthew said. “I see you, even when you hide from the rest of the world. I hear you, even when you’re silent.” Diana and I share Matthew, so he’s my husband too. LOL

2. Landon Lucas Maxwell from Breakable by Tammara Webber
-If you listen to only one audio book from 2014, it needs to be this one. The author’s son is the narrator, and he completely owned me. I highly recommend you listen in the dark, in bed. *happy sigh*

3. Shane Arthur from Still Life with Strings by LH Cosway
– Shane’s entire body is a work of art as he moves with his violin, and I realize that he was right, it really is like an extension of him.

4. Daemon Black from Opposition (Lux series) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
-This boy has been on my Favorite list for two years now. It will be weird to not see him on this list at the end of next year. *sad panda*

5. Ethan Holt from Bad Romeo by Leisa Rayven
-I bet he has a very nice penis. I bet it’s glorious, like his stupid perfect face, and gorgeous eyes, and muscled body. I bet if he entered his penis in a competition, it would win “Best in Show” and he could walk around with a giant blue ribbon stuck to his crotch.

6. Simon Lewis from City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare
-“Why is it that whenever I think I’ve found the most terrible thing that could happen to me, I’m always wrong.” Another boy that’s been on my favorite list for years, and won’t be back next year. :(

7. Ridge Lawson from Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover
-“For her, I bend. For you, I break.” One of the most special guys on this list for sure.

8. Hayden Stryker from Clipped Wings/Inked Armor by Helena Hunting
-“Everyone has scars, Tenley. If we’re lucky, they’re only on the outside.”

9. Jay Fields from Six of Hearts by LH Cosway
-His eyes sparkle with some kind of hidden knowledge as he lets me pass, like beautiful people know the meaning of the universe and are amused by us ordinary folks who have to bumble along in the dark.

10. Clark Barrows from Screwdrivered by Alice Clayton
-“Why ride a cowboy when you can ride a librarian?”

Amelia:

I love me some alpha males! I hope one of them ended up under my Christmas tree on Christmas morning ;)

  1. Dean West from Awaken by Nina Lane
  2. Hudson Pierce from Forever with You by Laurelin Paige
  3. Gideon Cross from Captivated by You by Sylvia Day
  4. Jacob Decker from Kaleidoscope by Kristen Ashley

You know how much I love my book boyfriends, right? ;) Today I’m going to talk a new favorite of mine: Jack McKenna from Absolution by Amanda Dick.

Why I love Jack:

Jack is a wonderful male character, one you fall in love with immediately. He’s a very sweet soul, but he carries incredible guilt inside of him. He made some bad decisions, but they were made out of love. He acknowledges his mistake, and he goes back to Ally hell-bent on conquering her again and showing her that he’s never stopped loving her. I love his devotion, his persistence, and how he wants to stay with Ally at all costs. To his eyes, she’s always the same Ally she was before, no matter how much things have changed…Jack conquered my heart, and he’s now on the list of my Favorite Book Boyfriends.

Some beautiful Jack quotes:

“The only thing we have control over is the present and the future. The past is gone, over. We have to move forward — we don’t have a choice.”

“I don’t deserve to ask for another chance, so I’m not. Just know that I’m going to try and make it up to you somehow, even if it takes the rest of my life. I’m not asking you for anything except to let me try. That’s it, that’s all.”

“I’ve missed being this close to you, holding you like this. You’re so beautiful.”

Thoughtful Thursday: Character Crush

Do you have character crushes? Are there characters that you want to be your BFF?

Wait! What?!? Is that a serious question?!?

I absolutely have crushes on lots of characters…Gabriel Emerson, Christian Grey, Kellan Kyle, Hayden Stryker, Lucas Maxfield, Gideon Cross, Drew Evans just to name a few off the top of my head. Actually, I could probably go on and on for days listing and gushing about all of my book boyfriends.

Yes, there are also characters I’d love to have as BFF’s, and they aren’t necessarily all females either.

Silly question I know, but what about you?

Broken Juliet by Leisa Rayven

How do you fix a love that’s been broken beyond repair?

For years, Cassie Taylor tried to forget about Ethan Holt. He was the one great love of her life, and when he failed to return her love, a part of her died forever. Or so she thought. Now she and Ethan are sharing a Broadway stage, and he’s determined to win her back. Claiming to be a changed man, he’s finally able to say all the things she needed to hear years ago, but can she believe him? What makes this time different from all his other broken promises?

Ethan knows he can’t change their tumultuous past, but if he’s going to have any chance of being with the woman he loves, he’ll need to convince Cassie that her future belongs with him.

Don’t miss this stunning conclusion to the unforgettable love story that captivated over two million fans online.

I don’t know why I was so surprised when I started this book that I would end up staying up late reading and then finish it in 36 hours. I mean, if you check out the reviews that both Tamie and I did for the first book, Bad Romeo,  the characters and story are so amazing and addictive that why wouldn’t the conclusion of their love story be any different?

Katiebird's review

So the first book ends with Ethan at Cassie’s front door wanting more than just entrance into her apt.

As I stand in my hallway, staring at the front door that reverberates with my former lover’s knocks, it occurs to me that even though Kintsugi is a noble concept, it doesn’t change the truth that once something is broken, it can never be anything else. Beautiful repair, no matter how elegant, doesn’t make it whole again. It’s still just a collection of pieces impersonating its former shape.

Judging from his soul-baring e-mail this morning, which included an epic declaration of love. I believe Ethan wants to repair me. Ironic, considering he was the one who broke me in the first place.

The opening scene would lead you to believe that this story is full of angst and tears. There is some of that, but this is Leisa. She knows how to write about more than that. She does UST very very well and throws in humor to keep us laughing and lightening the mood.

Another scene that reps Leisa’s talents just mentioned:

He unbuttons my shirt and pushes it open. Then he closes his eyes and whispers, “Please, God, let Marco tell me to freeze my hands on her boobs. Please.”

“That’s not in the blocking for this part.”

He glares down at me, “Quiet, woman. I’m conversing with a higher being. Don’t distract him with unhelpful logic.”

******

Lighting assistants rush around side stage as Holt lowers me until I’m settled fully onto his crotch. Once again, I give him the eyebrow.

“What?” His innocent act has gotten better over the years, but it doesn’t fool me. “It’s easier to hold you like this.”

“That’s because I’m resting on your erection.”

“I know. It’s like a shelf.”

I shake my head. “You have zero shame, you know that?’

“That’s not true. I have a great deal of shame. I’ve just given it the day off. I’ve been working it hard recently, and now it’s all exhausted and needs to recuperate.”

“Unlike your penis.”

“He rarely needs to recuperate. Not around you, anyway.”

What I think is the main difference between this book and the first is that like the title implies, it’s Cassie that feels broken and not worthy of Ethan’s love.

We continue to get flashbacks of their relationship while studying at The Grove, and we even get glimpses of Ethan’s entries in his journals from that time. Cassie finally gets to see things from his perspective and realizes that she might be able to forgive him and maybe even herself. Can first love that went to hell-in-a-handbasket be found again?

Honestly as readers, we get to see Ethan in a better light through Cassie’s eyes. Not that I needed any reason to not be more in love with Ethan Holt…

Daniel gif

Daniel Sharman is my Ethan Holt

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

~This man represents so many things to me. He was my first true friend. My first love. First lover. The master of more pleasure than I knew existed, and the architect of more heartache than I thought I could endure.

~“You’ve met me, right? I’m Ethan. Late-night drunk-dialer. Compulsive ass-groper. Shameless boob-ogler. Forever-erect-in-your-presence serial masturbator. How the hell could I possibly outgrow that? If anything, it’s gotten worse over the years. Did you not just witness me coming from you fondling my cock for less than three minutes?”

I think that I’ve gushed enough now, so just read both books and fall in love with two characters that will make you laugh and cry both angsty and happy tears.

Because Ethan listens to Radiohead, I was compelled to as well.

High and Dry by Radiohead

5 stars

I give this book 5 laugh until I cry stars and put it on my “books that own me” and “top shelf fantastic reads” shelf on Goodreads.

***I was given an advanced copy of this book for an honest review from Net Galley and the publisher. The excerpts and quotes are from that version.***

a sundays in bed with

It’s been a couple of weeks since my last Sundays In Bed With post, and during that time I’ve enjoyed the company of several yummy book boyfriends that you should know about. All of these books are releasing this week, so you’ll soon have the opportunity to have them in your bed too. Believe me ladies, you WANT these guys in your bed!

First up is John Logan from The Mistake by Elle Kennedy. Logan is not an entirely new character to me, having met him in The Deal, but I was kind of afraid back then that he might be the spoiler in the relationship between Garrett and Hannah. Now that he has his own story I was able to fully embrace him and give him my complete attention, which, by the way, he totally deserves. If I were to describe him the words that come to mind are: sexy, loyal in the extreme, and giving…very, very giving, generously so ;)

He’s a player in more ways than one…

College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hook-ups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he’ll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he’s worth a second chance.

Now he’s going to need to up his game…

After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She’s not a charity case, and she’s not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He’ll have to work for it. This time around, she’ll be the one in the driver’s seat…and she plans on driving him wild.

Next up is Ethan Holt from Broken Juliet by Leisa Reyven. This is the second time I’ve had the pleasure of this book boyfriend, but he’s even better this time around. He’s sweeter, sexier if possible, and he’s ready, able, and willing to fight for what he wants. Just all kinds of swoons for Ethan <3

Boyce Wynn from Sweet by Tammara Webber was a bit of a surprise for me. Having first met him in Breakable, he really didn’t strike me as book boyfriend material, boy oh boy, was I wrong. He’s hot for sure, but he’s also incredibly protective, supportive, hard-working, and loving. You’re going to appreciate this guy in all kinds of ways!

He’s the love of her life, but he doesn’t know it.
She’s his one moment of sacrifice in a lifetime of survival.

He was damaged and wild, but resilient.
She’s always been obedient. Now she’s restless.

Home for the summer between college and med school, Pearl Torres Frank knows two things: Boyce Wynn is the embodiment of everything she should run from, and everything she wants to run to. Rebellious and loud. Unconcerned with society’s opinion of him. Passionate. Strong. Dangerous.

And one more trait he hides from everyone but her:

Sweet.
